While doing contracting work for Trend Hunter, I wrote code for an ‘Invite Friends Page’. Since this is common to almost every facebook application, I decided to publish my code. You can check it out here. Please note that I “borrowed” some of the css and javascript from the X-Me application. I didn’t really want to waste my time writing the page from scratch.

Facebook Application: ‘Invite Friends Page’ code
July 16th, 2007Book Review – Eragon
July 14th, 2007I just completed a book called Eragon. For those you haven’t heard about the book, here is a summary of it (written on the back of the book).
When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance. Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire roled by a kind whose evil knows no bounds. Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.
The book has an awesome story that sucks you into it. The summary does a poor justice to the book. However, I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece. The writing quality could have been a lot better. Also, I feel the writer, Christopher Paolini, could have done more research for his universe. He seems to give you only enough information about the universe to tell the story. This makes the universe seem flat. Anyways, over all, I think it is a good book and look forward to read his second book.
X-Box Commerial (train station)
July 12th, 2007Check out this video. It is a banned X-Box Commerial. I have no idea why they banned it. I have seen far worse things on commerials. I think people are way to serious sometimes. Being a grown-up is boring… I plan on never becoming one.
Back from Vacation!
July 2nd, 2007I just got back from my vacation in Osoyoos. It was a lot of fun! It was nice to have four days off with nothing to do. It was a nice change to my hectic life. The best part was that we got to go boating (kneeboarding and tubing) and Sea-Dooing. Also, I managed to get a lot of reading done. Anyways, when I got back home, I found a pile of work for me to do. I have to go back to work tomorrow plus I have contracting work to do (TrendHunter Facebook Application). On top of that, I found I have stiff competition for myBlog (my Facebook application) which is called Flog. This will require me to do some serious upgrades to my current system.
